Why do so many UK buyers want American Trucks and SUVs?
American car fans have long had a love affair with American trucks, SUV’s and four wheel drives. Whenever we have something come into stock particularly slightly odd ball or rare finds the phone rings off the hook once its advertised. This spans all generation of vehicles whether its 1950’s farm trucks right through to more modern vehicles. The reality often is they are cumbersome, enormous vehicles that aren’t ideally suited to UK roads but we all get excited by a Chevrolet Suburban or Dodge RAM. much like the rest of the world we enjoy our muscle cars. Iconic looking vehicles with V8 engines will float enthusiasts boat. With the trucks it truly is something different often no sleek design but pure aggressive stance and size.
Typically for the truck fan you can benefit from the big V8 engine. Whether its a 5.7 HEMI or even as we had in stock recently a Ford Powerstroke 6.0 V8 Diesel the engine is something you just don’t get in anything other than American trucks or maybe a lorry. You then have the sheer size of the vehicle on the whole. American pickup trucks typically make our European pickup trucks look small. In fact it’s only really the Amarok that seems to take some influence from America in it’s size. Again with the SUV’s even the smallest on the market compete with the biggest in the UK at times. Driving something like a Ford Excursion or Lincoln Navigator is a kin to a large van and the airniness inside can be quite daunting. Fundamentally though it’s that scale of everything and the fact that we just never had those kinds of vehicle for sale here that is the appeal. That is what appeals to the American car lover and to be fair equally any classic car fan. Something that you just don’t see on the roads!
